Peaceful, Calming Sky
I shot this while flying over Virginia and trying to get to Newark a couple of weeks ago. I love it for many reasons. The colors are so vibrant despite the darkness. The peacefulness of it really appeals to me and makes me feel so calm.
Sometimes, when I look at cloud formations like the ones in the upper portion of the picture, they make me think of waves in an ocean. I used to spend a week each month at the beach while growing up in NC and I always loved watching the waves. If you look long enough at the ocean and then you watch the skies and clouds as the sun's setting, it almost looks like two different oceans. Maybe that's just my imagination. That's the nice thing about your imagination, no one can tell you it's not so.
The clouds along the bottom of the picture make me want to walk on them. They look thick enough to do just that. I wish I could fly. I would wander through these clouds. And hope that I didn't run into one of the airplanes in the air. I was just telling someone not too long ago that I miss dreaming that I could fly. I used to have those types of dreams regularly, where I'm swooping down on and around and back up to the blue skies. But I have not had one of those dreams in over a year and I miss it. And it makes me wonder why I haven't. Hmm.
