Thoughts of Work

Winging it to Irving

Since when did I get too busy to remember to eat or to take time to go to the BATHROOM!?!?! That's how most of Mark's last weeks at City of SA were and I just couldn't imagine I'd ever be that busy but here we are.

Last week I went to our corporate office because I really wanted to start building relationships with my new trainers working up there though many are from other cities and states, that's where the hub of SAP rollout is. I did a meeting marathon and met with eleven trainers and I think I still need to meet seven or eight more. Lesson: do not book back to back meetings. It's too much. But I really wanted to be available to them. It's always difficult to transition when you don't even know what positions are going to be available and if they are available to you. It's all too familiar to me....library days at the end. It's not a good feeling and so I want to do what I can to help them.

I need to figure this new work out a bit. I don't want it to consume my life because that's just not healthy. But how are we going to build training models, fix a big training project, develop new trainers, learn how to use new technology in order to start virtual training programs and then translate all of that into Polish and Croatian for starters. Oh, and with a not so big team. Hmm....it can be a fun challenge but it's also a little overwhelming at times.

I shot this photo on my way up to Irving. I loved the way the dark sky looked. But I gazed out the window and thought how different my trips now are from what they were last year. Last year the trips were for me to train. Now the trips are for meetings. Interesting. Sometimes I miss the old days a lot.
