Houston Temple
Recently we went to Houston for the day to do some shopping and to just get away for a bit. Had a great time -- took Mark to get dim sum for the first time and he liked it though it was as great as the ones I've been to in California. Also got some great shots of the blooming lotus plants outside the restaurant. Trekked over to the madhouse, also known as Hong Kong Market (oh my, gotta remember not to go there on weekends! I have not been around that many Asian folks since visiting San Jose, lol.) On our way out of town, we made a stop at this little Buddhist temple that Lan and I had noticed many times but never stopped at before. Mark and I went inside and found it very interesting...not what I was used to from past temples. This one had many different shrines to various deities. I found Quan Te Am and said a prayer to her. Most of the others, I was not familiar with unfortunately. I didn't know if I could take any pictures inside so I didn't since I didn't want to be disrespectful. Didn't see any monks and though there were three people who seem to be volunteers, no one spoke to us. Still, I'm glad we went in to visit.
